5 magical full moon rituals to recharge, reflect and reconnect

Full moons have forever been a mystical time. Because the full moon reaches its energetic peak”, it’s considered to be the perfect time to tap into its power and practice a little self-care. The full moon energy has a way of heightening your intuition, revealing what no longer serves you, and what needs to be healed, integrated or released.

Here are 5 ways to tap into the magical energy of the full moon and manifest powerful shifts in your lives. From quick and easy to more involved, there's a ritual on this lunar list for everyone!

1. Journaling
One of the reasons we can feel so emotional during a full moon is because it’s a time of making the unknown known, the unconscious conscious, the hidden seen. That’s why journaling and writing down what you feel can help you identify what is weighing you down and give you more clarity than simply thinking about it. Ask yourself questions like:
Have I been ignoring or suppressing my feelings in certain areas?
Have I been settling, compromising, or disowning my truth and boundaries?
Am I ready to release what’s no longer serving me?
If you don’t have a proper journal, a simple sheet of paper will do. Write down everything you are feeling, uncensored and then burn the paper to let it go.

2. Smudging ritual
The full moon tends to mark a big build-up of energy, both light and dark. This makes it the perfect time to cleanse your space, body and mind, and release what no longer serves you.
To perform the ritual, simply burn the dried sage bundle and waft it around your entire body at a safe distance. After cleansing yourself, you can smudge your home by waving the sage wand in the corners and centres of each room or anywhere you feel guided. Trust your intuition. After the ritual, open all your windows to air out the smoke and let new, fresh energy, and ideally moonlight, into your home.

3. Recharge your crystals
The full moon is a wonderful opportunity to cleanse and charge your crystals and other spiritual tools under the light of the full moon. After sunset, gather your crystals (stones like Selenite, Moonstone, Amethyst and Quartz respond especially well to moonlight) and place them outside or near a window. I recommend clearing them with sage first so that they are pure and clear before absorbing the energy of the moon. Leave your crystals overnight and collect them the next morning and give thanks to the moon for their potent new energy.

4. Soak up some moonlight
One of the most simple, and yet nonetheless powerful full moon rituals is to just go outside and gaze up at the moon. Feel the magical silver rays of the moon shining down upon you, cleansing and blessing your energy.

5. Meditation
The full moon is a great time for meditating, especially on specific intentions you're working with. Sit comfortably in a space where the moonlight is visible. Close your eyes and feel the moon's beams fill the room and your body. Focus on your breath and the intention you've set. Imagine the moonlight enveloping and purifying your body, mind, and spirit. Slowly bring your attention back to the room and open your eyes.

Happy full moon everyone :)
